Maine agencies’ farmland purchases seem dubious

Our state is struggling financially, yet we have state agencies purchasing land? (“Maine buys second PFAS-contaminated farm,” May 22)

People need to consider the fact that this PFAS “catastrophe” might be engineered. When they brought Erin Brockovich to Maine to run “town halls,” the whole operation looked like a publicity stunt to me (and many others).

Scientists have identified PFAS as harmful to life and most agree with that. However, to condemn wells, farmland and water supplies for small amounts per trillion is a regulatory issue.

Why would the state want to run a very questionable regulatory program like this? Thinking beyond the fact that they harmonize with the federal government on many issues, and the feds have a history of working for international interests, we don’t think the “rewilding of America” program has anything to do with it? We don’t think they want to hamstring property owners and acquire the land at pennies on the dollar? It’s time to consider this possibility.
