Class is in session starting Wednesday; folks won’t mind attending this summer school. On the syllabus: 140 cocktails, a host of vermouths and some auspicious numerology.
Class Cocktails & Vermuteria (aka, a vermouth bar) opens Wednesday at 1118 S. Rainbow Blvd., near West Charleston Boulevard. Class creator and partner Jozef Letasi, a longtime Las Vegas bartender, is known for his “precision, purist and spirit-forward style rooted in classic techniques,” as described in a Tuesday announcement.
“Class is the bar I always wanted to spend time in, a place where every detail matters, where classic cocktails are treated with respect, and where people can genuinely connect,” Letasi said. “We built this from the ground up with intention, creating an experience that feels timeless, welcoming and centered on hospitality.”
All things considered
About 140 cocktails anchor the menu, from refined recipes for the standards to new pours rooted in classic cocktail culture. Glassware, ice, dilution, and garnishes foraged by Letasi all receive careful consideration. Gin, whiskey and vermouth feature prominently, the latter inspired by the Letasi’s study of vermouth traditions in Italy.
Class offers vermouth bottle service with house olives, citrus peels, tonic and soda water, allowing guests to customize and explore. The bar also hosts daily Vermouth Hour from 4:44 to 5:55 p.m. with discounts on vermouth cocktails.
Class encompasses 48 seats, with earth tones, images by artist William Carr, Arte wallpaper imported from Belgium, hand-blown glassware and other custom elements. The no-smoking bar does not have televisions or gaming, in keeping with its invitation to guests “to slow down, settle in and savor the experience.”
The bar is open from 4:44 p.m. to 1:11 a.m. (8 hours and 27 minutes) Wednesdays through Sundays. Why the distinctive hours? Letasi considers the numbers to be lucky.
