The Black Keys are bound for a tiki club.
First, a plug: I have a dandy interview with drumming great Patrick Carney of The Black Keys (well, he was dandy) coming up in Friday’s Neon. But do not wait until then to know this: Carney and singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach are heading up a hang at Todo Bien Tiki Tequileria at 8533 Rozita Lee Ave. in UnCommons. This pop-up is after their show on Friday at The Theater at Virgin Hotels.
Listed times are 10 p.m.-“late,” always a sign of debauchery. This is a non-ticketed, no-cover, 21-over scene.
In our chat, I also revisited The Black Keys’ previous visit to the venue that is now The Theater at Virgin, the beloved Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel. Carney and Auerbach tore through the venue on New Year’s Eve weekend in 2012.
“That was actually the most fun trip I’ve ever had to Vegas,” Carney said. “We’d just wrapped a world tour, literally the very last shows. They let us set up the VIP blackjack table and put the minimum to $1. We sat there for 24 hours. Amazing.” Insiders say they were $1 ahead.
