On the Border, the chain of casual Tex-Mex restaurants, is shutting down all of its company-owned restaurants by the end of the day Friday, as confirmed in a statement provided to media outlets across the U.S.
The statement did not identify which stores are closing but did say that independently operated franchises in four states — Nevada, California, South Dakota and Florida — will remain open, as will franchised locations in South Korea. The company’s website currently lists 33 restaurants across 12 states.
The sole Vegas restaurant, 5630 Centennial Center Blvd., is owned by local firm Queenrich Partners LLC, according to Las Vegas business records.
In March 2025, On the Border filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection; it was acquired out of bankruptcy two months later by Pappas Restaurants.
On the Border was founded in Dallas in 1982. At its height, the company operated more than 150 restaurants across three dozen states.
