For the last two decades, visual art works and those who created them have found a home at CityArts Orlando. Now, 20 years after it first opened and with more than 36,000 artworks displayed since, CityArts presents its very own retrospective.
CityArts Retrospective: Celebrating 20 Years, is a new exhibition showcasing what makes this gallery so special. The storied green building in the heart of downtown, home base for CityArts, will honor the artists and celebrate the community impact that they have made on Orlando.
With over 20,000 artists featured, 5,616 days open to the public, 240 Third Thursday events and 1,536 exhibitions, CityArts provides a space for local artists to share their works and touches the heart of Orlando with each piece.
The exhibition kicks off with an opening night from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 18. Singer June Bunch (who also has a show of paintings opening at CityArts on Thursday) and DJ Nigel will perform at the opening, and merchandise by local artists Dawrby, Jonathan Stemberger and Etch will be available for purchase.
The exhibition will also feature the release of a limited-edition wine called CityArts Retrospective, created by Assemblage Wine and local artist Boy Kong.
The retrospective exhibit is on now through the second week of July.
The gallery first opened as “CityArts Factory” in Orlando in 2006 in the historic Webster Building at 29 S. Orange Ave. It later found its current home in the Rogers-Kiene Building at 39 S. Magnolia Ave in 2019.
