Rockland library hosts music series for young children, families

Families with young children are invited to the Rockland Public Library on Saturday for Music Together, a 45-minute early childhood music and movement session. Music teacher Shannon Burns will leads families in circle songs, instrument play and rhythm.

This free event is for ages 0–5 with a caregiver. Space is limited and is first come, first served (no registration in advance). Sign-in starts at 10 a.m. at the front desk of the library and the class begins at 10:30 a.m.

This program is always on the third Saturday of the month — upcoming classes are on July 18, Aug. 15, Sept. 19 and Oct. 17.

This Music Together of Midcoast Music Academy class follows the recommendations of child development researchers — grouping children of a variety of ages to foster natural, family-style learning. Each child participates at his or her own level. Any caregivers — parents, grandparents, nanny — can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this family music experience. Midcoast Music Academy is a community music school that was founded in 2012.
