Las Vegas Strip headliner is going dark, for real

Nuance has no place in this show.

Criss Angel is partnering with genre-smashing recording artist Kim Dracula in “Haunted,” a one-off theatrical concert experience Oct. 24 at Angel’s eponymous theater at Planet Hollywood.

The show will serve as an apt catapult into Halloween. Tickets are on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. PT on Monday.

Dracula, a nonbinary artist, gained fame with their 2020 cover of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi,” a dark, screeching, metal-driven exercise. The YouTube video has amassed nearly 4 million views. The TikTok clip has drawn 3.4 million views and 60,000 fan clips.

The show promises illusions and music, commonplace in many magic shows. “Terror,” also on the menu, sets it apart.

In the news release announcing the show, Dracula is described indelicately as, “Surfacing from the flesh-eating diseases and torrential wildfires of Australia.”

The 28-year-old Dracula’s birthplace is actually Hobart, Tasmania. The name is drawn from the Deftones’ “Kimdracula,” from their “Saturday Night Wrist” album. Angel’s co-star’s birth name is the decidedly less theatrical Samuel Wellings.

Angel has previously partnered with rock legend Alice Cooper for a seven-show concert series from March through May. “Criss Angel Mindfreak,” the magician’s regular residency, continues to run in its 7 p.m. slot. The 58-year-old headliner opened the show in December 2018, after a decade at Luxor.
