Eye Dropper thrill ride debuts at Area15 in Las Vegas | Attractions

You knew it was go time when the dancers in the eyeball headdresses and bright-red, form-fitting gowns striped with optical veins took to the stage.

Flanked by said performers, Area15 Chief Technology Officer Mark Stutzman led the sizable crowd in a countdown before pressing the launch button — shaped like a bowling-ball-sized peeper, of course.

And with that Eye Dropper whooshed to life on Saturday night, surging nearly 200 feet into the sky as swirling laser lights added a rainbow-colored psychedelic vibe to it all.

Area15’s newest thrill ride in its swiftly expanding Zone 2, Eye Dropper features both Space Shot and Turbo Drop sequences that can launch, free fall or combine both while delivering speeds up to 36 miles per hour, with sensations ranging from 4 g-forces to moments of weightless airtime at -1.2 g-forces.

The attraction was unveiled during Area15’s biggest block party yet on Saturday, as thousands gathered amid a VIP reception for Eye Dropper’s debut featuring players from the Las Vegas Aces and their mascot BUCKET$, the Vegas Golden Knights’ mascot Chance and performers from Chippendales, who officially became the first bare-chested dudes to brave the experience.

You can join now them — though wear a shirt, maybe — as Eye Dropper is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit area15.com.
