Oxford Hills pitcher Kyeria Morse was honored Wednesday with the Miss Maine Softball award, presented to the state’s best senior player.
Morse capped her stellar career by posting a 10-3 record and a 0.36 earned-run average this season, helping Oxford Hills earn the No. 1 seed in the Class A North playoffs. She struck out 170 batters in 96 2/3 innings, and allowed 42 hits and 34 walks. Opponents had a .119 batting average.
As a hitter, Morse also had a .320 batting average, two home runs and 11 RBI.
Other finalists were Buckfield shortstop Chloee Bennett, Windham shortstop and pitcher Addie Caiazzo, York first baseman Maddie Fitzgerald, Old Town shortstop Natalie Fournier, Wells shortstop/outfielder Payton Fazzina, Cheverus outfielder Hailey Lamontagne, Orono pitcher Jillian Severance, Lawrence catcher Ashley Shores, Narraguagus pitcher Natalie Stanwood, Dirigo shortstop Nikole Turnbull, Penobscot Valley pitcher Lauren Veino and Old Orchard Beach pitcher Hannah Webber.
Morse is the second Oxford Hills player to be named Miss Maine Softball, joining Jesse Becher, who earned the honor the first year it was it was awarded in 1999.
