Westbrook man accused of trying to set Portland restaurant on fire with Molotov cocktail

A Westbrook man was taken into custody this week after police say he lit a Molotov cocktail inside a Portland restaurant in an apparent attempt to set the building on fire.

Ken Muco, 29, faces charges of attempted arson, terrorizing and other crimes in relation to the incident inside New Buja Belle Restaurant and Bar on the evening of June 19.

Portland police said in a news release that officers were called to the restaurant on St. John Street around 8 p.m. that evening for a disturbance involving an armed individual.

Investigators determined that Muco had entered the building with the Molotov cocktail and later lit it, displayed a gun, and threatened people in the restaurant, police said in a news release Friday.

Muco was arrested Tuesday without incident, police said.Investigators also searched his home and found a gun and other evidence.

Muco is charged with criminal attempted arson, a Class A-level felony, as well as terrorizing, illegal possession of a firearm and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.
