The woman arrested Saturday for suspicion of first-degree attempted murder following the stabbing of three women at Zablan Beach in Nanakuli has been released.
The Honolulu Police Department said today after conferring with the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney, charges against the suspect were declined due to self-defense issues.
“As a result, the suspect was released,” HPD said in a statement.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at about 1:24 p.m. Saturday to find three victims, according to an HPD summary of the incident. Two women, ages 22 and 32, suffered multiple stab wounds, and a third woman, 22, had been stabbed once, police said.
The suspect fled, but was quickly found and arrested, according to HPD.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services officials said paramedics responded with multiple units after several women suffered stab wounds and lacerations in an altercation at the beach. EMS treated the three women and took them to an emergency room in serious condition.
