Much like the way the Umbrella Corporation’s T-Virus swept through humanity, “Resident Evil” is taking over Universal Horror Unleashed for the summer.
The video game series that inspired the movie franchise is setting up shop in Las Vegas, allowing fans to test their survival skills throughout six designated zones.
— Zone 1: A battered “Welcome to Raccoon City” sign welcomes guests as emergency lights flash and police try to contain the outbreak.
— Zone 2: Guests arrive at the Raccoon City Police Department, where interactive puzzles await.
— Zone 3: The last remaining residents of Raccoon City have transformed into flesh-eating zombies here in the heart of the infected zone. Fans will encounter familiar faces, including Ada Wong.
— Zone 4: More “Resident Evil” characters, including Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy, are here amid battles between heroes, villains and zombies. Once things calm down, guests can interact with the characters and take photos with them.
— Zone 5: Attendees try to survive the final mission.
— Zone 6: Food and cocktails inspired by the T-Virus and its mutations await survivors, for an additional charge, inside the Umbrella Corporation.
The “Resident Evil” takeover will run July 9 through Aug. 30. It’s included with general admission passes to Universal Horror Unleashed, which start at $59 for Nevada residents. The attraction is open 4 to 10:30 p.m., Thursdays through Sundays, in Zone 2 at Area15.
“Resident Evil,” billed as a reinvention of the movie franchise from “Weapons” filmmaker Zach Cregger, will open in theaters Sept. 18.
