Tristram (aka T, Tris, TJ) Gray Chase Jensvold was born in Burlington, Vt., on August 3, 1978. Shortly after his birth, he and his parents moved to Danville, Vt., where T spent his first years living on the Danville Morgan Horse Farm, later moving to a log cabin overlooking Joe’s Pond.
Tristram attended Danville schools and learned to ski at Burke Mountain. He was athletic and loved riding snow machines, horses and mountain bikes; snow and water-skiing; snowboarding; sailing; and other outdoor activities.
Tris graduated from Mount Mansfield Union High School in 1996. He attended Champlain College and then went into sales. He was disarmingly charming and a very successful salesperson. He was quick, witty and fearless.
T was an avid traveler who inherited his love of exploring the world from his grandmother (Barbara Winthrop Coffin Jones). From a young age, he spent much of his time sailing and camping on her beloved islands in Malletts Bay, and she also introduced him to the joy of travel, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. His adventures took him from the breathtaking Swiss Alps to Dubai for business to tropical destinations around the globe and to countless places across the United States. Wherever he went, he embraced new experiences and carried a deep appreciation for the beauty and diversity of the world.
Tris moved to Southern California in the mid-2000s, where he met his wife-to-be, Daniella Dimase, daughter of Jose and Mirella Dimase of Rome, Italy. They were married in an Italian castle north of Rome in 2009. T moved back to Vermont in 2016 and lived in Danville for several years before moving to Nashville, Tenn., in 2023.
Tristram lived life to the fullest, had few boundaries and took many risks.
He was intense, funny and tough, with a huge heart. He loved deeply and was a good, loyal friend. He adored all animals, particularly horses and dogs. For the last eight years he lived with his best bud Paco, an American hunt terrier.
Tristram is survived by his mother, Candis Chase Leopold (James Leopold) of Malletts Bay, Vt,; his father, Christopher Jensvold (Betsy Bamford) of Jericho, Vt.; and his sister, Kaetlin Jensvold (Hal Reuling), and their children, Henry Reuling and Summer Grace Reuling, of Northern California. He also leaves many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and wonderful friends.
Tristram was loved by many, and he is very missed.
