Mary Lynne Tromp, at an ever-glamorous 68, of Burlington, Vt., passed away at McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, Vt., on July 12, 2026, after a two-year battle with glioblastoma. Born in Painesville, Ohio, on October 23, 1957, to Hans and Eileen (Saari) Tromp, Mary was beloved by people in every corner of the country and across her life. She graduated from Kirtland High School in 1975, Lakeland Community College in 1977 and Bowling Green State University in 1979 as a first-generation college graduate. She was a savvy businesswoman who worked primarily in the travel industry, including airline management and airport parking. While always an Ohio girl at heart, she lived in Indiana, Wyoming, Arizona, California and Florida. She loved three things above all: her beloved friends and family, listening to music (about which she had a dazzling amount of knowledge), and sitting in the sun. In all her roles and in every state, she gathered friends, who she made laugh, lifted up and encouraged. She inspired devotion and deep connection, and she will be dearly missed by countless people.
She is survived by her sister Marlene Tromp; her brother-in-law, James Spearman; and her nephew, Jacob Hans Tromp-Chacko.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, noon, at McPeek Hoekstra Hoskinson Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St., Granville, Ohio. She will be interred beside her parents in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville in a private ceremony. The ceremony will be followed by a Rock and Roll Celebration of Mary’s life in the Faculty Lounge and Welsh Hills Room at the Burton D. Morgan Center at Denison University, 150 Ridge Rd., Granville, Ohio, from 3 to 6 p.m.
