The Briefs are back in Orlando after a long absence to make punk fun again

Punk has gotten so serious around here lately. There’s more to life than hardcore, guys. Thankfully, here come The Briefs to make punk fun again. The Seattle band used to frequent Orlando back in the 2000s with legendary shows at the original Will’s Pub, where they whipped up a fervent local following with a high-voltage blend of punk rock, new wave and power pop. They’ve regrouped in recent years and are at last back to get wired and weird.

This time, they’re bringing excellent tourmates The Sleeveens, a Nashville group who pack their own party with blue-collar anthems of burly, punk-hearted rock & roll. Notable Orlando openers will be melody punks Vicious Dreams and street punks Sick Dogs.

7 p.m. Friday, July 31, Will’s Pub, willspub.org, $22-$25.
