Maui police arrested a 20-year-old nude suspect on suspicion of second-degree murder after a 63-year-old man was found unresponsive at a condo-resort in Lahaina early Wednesday morning.
At 3:02 a.m., MPD dispatch received a report regarding a nude male wandering in a Kahana neighborhood. Officers located him about 30 minutes later, still nude and with numerous abrasions. They took the man to Maui Memorial Medical Center for evaluation.
At about 5:30 a.m., officers responded to a call from a condominium resort at 4299 Lower Honoapiilani Road about an unresponsive male. Paramedics declared the man dead at the scene, according to the Maui Police Department.
MPD said in a news release that officers reviewed surveillance footage and discovered that at about 1:45 a.m., a naked man approached the victim’s office and “brutally attacked him before fleeing on foot.”
Officers determined that the nude man found in Kahana was the same person seen in the surveillance footage.
He was taken to the Wailuku Police Station, where he was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder. He remained in police custody Wednesday night, pending charges.

The identity of the victim, a Lahaina man, was withheld for 24 hours so his family can notify extended family and friends of his death.
