A 19-year-old from Westbrook died after drowning in Tumbledown Pond on Wednesday afternoon.
Bogdon Dosov was swimming with a group atop Tumbledown Mountain that afternoon when he started having difficulty swimming and slipped beneath the water’s surface, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Minutes later, witnesses recovered Dosov from about 12 feet of water and started CPR, according to the release. They called 911 and a Maine Forest Service helicopter brought emergency personnel and a game warden to the mountain, who continued livesaving efforts.
Authorities pronounced Dosov dead at the scene. His body was transported by helicopter off of the mountain, and later taken to Wiles Funeral Home in Farmington, the news release read.
