Honolulu bus service to be suspended due to high winds, rain

Honolulu city officials have suspended TheBus service tonight because of the high winds and rain from Hurricane Lala which is passing just south of the Big Island.

The city Department of Transportation Services said it is temporarily suspending TheBus services to ensure the safety of passengers, operators, and the traveling public.

TheBus will suspend routes that are scheduled for 8:31 p.m. or later until further notice, officials said in a news release. Routes scheduled to depart at 8:30 p.m. or earlier will start their trip and continue to its scheduled end point, they said. Services will remain suspended until weather conditions improve and it is safe to resume operations, DTS said.

City officials urge the public to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather and exercise extreme caution if driving. Bus passengers should consider alternate arrangements for tonight into Sunday morning.
