Outshine frozen fruit bars recalled due to glass

The Hawaii Department of Health is alerting residents of a recall for certain batches of Outshine Fruit Bars due to contamination with glass.

Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream Inc. issued the recall for the 6-count, 2.5-ounce packages of strawberry, watermelon, grape, black cherry, and tangerine fruit bars. The recall also includes the 24-count, 2.5-ounce packages of variety pack fruit bars.

These recalled products were distributed to retailers nationwide, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In Hawaii, they were distributed to Times/Don Quijote, KTA Super Stores, Walmart, Target and other retailers.

DOH’s food and drug branch is working with local stores to ensure the recalled products are no longer available for sale.

DOH said the products were distributed nationally, including Times/Don Quijote, KTA Super Stores, Walmart, Target, and other retailers in Hawaii. Health officials are working with local stores to ensure the recalled products are no longer available for sale.

Dreyer’s issued the recall out of an abundance of caution following consumer reports of glass found in the fruit bars.

Dreyer’s says no injuries or illnesses from the recalled products have been reported.
