Kauai County officials are advising the public to stay out of Hanalei Bay due to a shark sighting this morning.
Just before noon, Ocean Safety Bureau officials reported the sighting of an 8-foot shark fronting Pavilion Tower in Hanalei Bay. They advise no swimming or other ocean activities in the area.
Shark warning signs have been posted, and lifeguards continue to monitor the area.
On Tuesday morning, officials will reassess the area, and if there are no other sightings, the beach will reopen to ocean activities.
