A woman is seriously injured after a three-car crash that briefly trapped a father and daughter in a vehicle fire in Lebanon on Saturday morning, according to a news release.
Deputies from the York County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at approximately 10:45 a.m. after several callers reported a crash with injuries near 899 Carl Broggi Highway, or Route 202. Upon initial investigation, it was determined that 22-year-old Samantha Hobbs, of North Berwick, had been ejected from her Chevy Silverado after crossing the median into oncoming traffic and colliding with two cars.
Hobbs’s vehicle first struck a Jeep Wrangler driven by Kelly Galarza, 50, of Plymouth, Massachusetts. It then hit a Ford Expedition driven by Galarza’s husband, Nestor, with their daughter inside. The vehicle caught on fire but both escaped.
Maine DOT barricaded the road while units from Lebanon Fire Department , Maine State Police, North Berwick Rescue and several others provided medical care and worked to extinguish the flames.
Hobbs was transported via LifeFlight to Portsmouth Hospital to be treated for serious injuries, though her condition is unknown.
The Galarza family were transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New Hampshire, to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released. They were also traveling with their four pets; three dogs and a cat, who were all uninjured and secured by Lebanon Animal Control at the scene.
The Maine State Police is still investigating the incident.
