Folks aged 50-plus accounted for more than 59% of all voters in the 2024 general election in Maine. That is a powerful, decisive voice at the ballot box. Older voters are the largest and most reliable voting group. They stay well informed on the issues.
Candidates must listen and respond to what older voters have to say, in particular, in order to earn the opportunity to serve their constituents.
Nonpartisan issues like Social Security, family caregiving, healthcare accessibility and affordability, and the cost of utilities affect all residents. Older voters pay attention when candidates talk about policy and their proposed solutions to the challenges faced in these areas. Our vote is our voice, letting them know what voters expect them to follow through on in order to build a better future for the entire community.
