All Hawaii island public schools and most in Maui County will reopen Monday.
However, four Lahaina schools will remain closed Monday in the aftermath of Hurricane Nolo due to ongoing power outages, uncertainty surrounding the nearby Olowalu brush fire and concerns about maintaining reliable water service at the campuses, according to the state Department of Education.
The schools that will remain closed Monday are King Kamehameha III Elementary School, Princess Nahiʻenaʻena Elementary School, Lahaina Intermediate School and Lahainaluna High School.
The DOE said that Nolo did not cause significant damage to public school campuses.
