Carlos Santana’s residency at the House of Blues is one long jam session. The rock legend just cleared his most recent run at the Mandalay Bay music hall on Sunday. We wake up to even more dates.
Santana and his fierce band, including Cindy Blackman Santana on drums, have stretched the show into next year. His new dates run Jan. 20, 21, 23, 24, 27, 28, 30 and 31. The 79-year-old Woodstock alum is back again on May 12, 13, 15, 16, 19, 20, 22 and 23. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Pacific time Thursday at Ticketmaster.com.
Promoter Live Nation Las Vegas, which owns the House of Blues, has confirmed the new dates.
Since opening in May 2012, Santana has performed more than 300 shows at the Mandalay Bay music hall, easily more than any other artist.
Santana’s previously booked dates are Nov. 4, 5, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14 and 15.
“We just want to bring happiness, unity,” Santana said in an interview in July. “I really believe that it’s important to continue to share with people our resonance sounds, the vibration that brings people into a place where they believe that it’s possible to make a difference on this planet.”
Blackman Santana has issued a terrific new album, “Coherence,” which features Carlos on several tracks. Blackman Santana is also a member of the all-star trio Power of 3, along with great guitar-vocalist Orianthi and bass great Rhonda Smith. The band’s self-titled album is due in December.
And Blackman Santana is back on the ESPN “Monday Night Football” opening segment for the fourth straight season. She joins Chris Stapleton and Ludacris in the broadcast’s cover of Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight.”
