Suspect in fatal Wells hit-and-run facing charges

An Atkinson, N.H., man was arrested Sunday morning and is facing charges in connection with a fatal hit-and-run on Route 1 in Wells that occurred in March, according to a news release from the Maine State Police.

Daniel E. Paul, 56, was charged with manslaughter, aggravated driving to endanger and leaving the scene of the incident that killed 50-year-old Gregory Nolan of Wells.

State police, Wells police and several other agencies had been investigating the incident, along with New Hampshire officials.

An arraignment for Paul is scheduled for Jan. 13, 2027, at the Biddeford Unified Court, according to the release.
