What we know about the debut season

The debut season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood kicks off on STARZ with a two-episode premiere starting at 8/7c. Following the two-episode premiere, a new episode will release weekly on Fridays leading up to the season finale which is set to hit the network on Oct. 3. Altogether, season one is slated for 10 hour-long episodes.

Though the series primarily focuses on the parents of Claire and Jamie and their individual love stories, the series will bring back younger versions of fan-favorite Outlander characters including Colum, Dougal and more.

The series starts out in the rugged Scottish Highlands during the 18th century where, after the death of Red Jacob, a new Laird of Clan MacKenzie must be chosen, and both of his sons—Colum and Dougal—vie for the title.

Meanwhile, at the Gathering, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie meet for the first time and are struck by their strong connection.

Episode two, which is set to premiere immediately following the show’s first episode, jumps forward in time to focus on Claire’s parents’ first initial meeting. While Henry fights in World War I, Julia busies herself by working in the censorship office in London. Though separated for the time being, their love story begins to unfold through the letters they write to each other.
