Go Red for Women Luncheon Returns Next Month

It’s time to put on your best red outfit. Go Red for Women, the annual luncheon hosted by the American Heart Association of Central Arkansas, returns Oct. 16 to the Robinson Center’s Grant Still Ballroom.

The event invites supporters and champions of heart health to come together to build a community that fosters better health. For more than 20 years, AHA’s signature women’s initiative has worked to close the awareness and clinical care gaps surrounding women’s greatest health threat: cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Nearly half of women over age 20 are living with some form of CVD, and many may not be aware of it. Unique life stages such as pregnancy and menopause can increase the risk of developing heart disease. Historically, women have been left out of research, testing, treatment and funding, gaps the AHA aims to close through initiatives like Go Red for Women.

Go Red for Women is a day devoted to education and inspiration. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., attendees will enjoy a seated lunch and hear from guest speakers about the importance of heart health. A survivor fashion show will take place featuring Mac Royals from “The Voice,” and the Women in Medicine Award will be presented.
