The University of Washington will hold a Celebration of Life for Mia Hamant on Jan. 6 at Alaska Airlines Arena, UW announced Thursday.
Hamant, who was a standout goalkeeper for the UW women’s soccer team, died Nov. 6 after a monthslong battle with an ultrarare form of kidney cancer. She was 21.
The Celebration of Life next month is open to the public. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 4. It will also air live at GoHuskies.com/MiaHamant.
Amid the heartbreaking loss of their teammate and friend, the Huskies won the Big Ten tournament and advanced all the way to the NCAA quarterfinals, tied for the best finish in program history.

• Washington State wide receiver Carter Pabst is expected to enter the transfer portal, according to a source familiar with the situation, ending his one-year stay with the Cougars. As a true freshman, Pabst played in nine games, totaling nine receptions for 168 yards and one touchdown.
All told, Pabst played 203 snaps of offense, earning playing time with his reliable hands and solid blocking skills. A Kansas native, Pabst was committed to South Dakota State, where former WSU coach Jimmy Rogers was coaching at the time. Pabst then flipped to the Cougars, following Rogers.
