Honolulu Police Department officers shot an 18-year-old man this afternoon shortly before 4 p.m., according to a news release.
“The Honolulu Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the McCully area today at approximately 3:52 p.m. There is currently no threat to the public. HPD will share more information as it becomes available,” read a statement from HPD to media.
HPD did not immediately make public what officers were dealing with when they shot the 18-year-old man this afternoon. Where in McCully the man was shot and how many officers were involved was also not released.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services technicians “co-responded to the patient who suffered an apparent gun shot wound,” according to city officials.
“EMS administered advanced life support treatment and transported him to an emergency room for further treatment,” according to EMS.
A news conference about the shooting is scheduled for 9 p.m. tonight.
