LOCKPORT, NY – Spotlight Performing Artists, Inc. proudly presents the Western New York premiere of Open Stay, a moving new song cycle musical performing May 29 and May 30 at 7:00 PM at the Kenan Center Taylor Theatre.
This limited engagement marks the first local staging of a newly written script, developed in Western New York and inspired by a licensed song cycle from Uproar Theatrics. While the music was originally available with an existing concept, Spotlight Performing Artists chose to create an original script, shaping the story alongside casting so each performer’s strengths directly influenced their character.
For audiences seeking a fresh, emotionally resonant musical experience, Open, Stay centers on sisters Lizzie and Rosalie, who are left holding the pieces of a family they no longer recognize after their world collapses. Just as they begin to find their footing, the reappearance of their estranged Aunt Rachel forces them to confront a difficult choice: protect the fragile peace they’ve built or risk the pain of letting someone back in.
