If you’re headed to the Electric Daisy Carnival this weekend, prepare to get a little sweatier than usual under the electric sky, as EDC has posted a heat advisory on their socials.
After Monday’s record-breaking 104-degree high, temperatures are expected to cool a bit by the weekend, but still remain higher than average for this time of year.
Accuweather.com forecasts highs of 101 and 99 degrees on Friday and Saturday, respectively, dipping to a 93-degree high on Sunday.
On their Instagram page, EDC posted tips on weathering the elevated temperatures, including staying hydrated — “make sure that hydro pack is being refilled” — and wearing and reapplying sunscreen.
In addition to the heat, there’s also the annual EDC gridlock for fest-goers to contend with.
The Nevada Department of Transportation has issued a traffic warning for Friday-Sunday in conjunction with the festival, noting the following:
— Altered traffic patterns on northbound I-15 near Exit 52, Exit 54, and Exit 58 (Apex)
— Traffic impacts on Las Vegas Boulevard between Nellis Boulevard and Apex
— Traffic impacts on Craig Road between Nellis Boulevard and Las Vegas Boulevard
— Delays expected between 2 p.m. and 6 a.m.; motorists should use caution and consider an alternate route
Take it from this EDC veteran, who’s gotten stuck in opening-night traffic for close to three hours in the past, the best way to beat the rush is to get there early.
The Cosmic Meadow stage opens at 5 p.m. on Friday, the rest of the festival grounds two hours later, take advantage and avoid getting stuck in traffic.
