It’s been over five years in the making, but Vegas will have to wait a little longer to get a first look at HallowScreamCon and HallowScreamFest.
Originally scheduled to debut at various venues around town Oct. 1 through 4, the ambitious horror-themed gatherings have been bumped to 2027.
“After 6 weeks of careful evaluation, difficult conversations and exhausting every possible avenue, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to postpone HallowScreamCon + HallowScreamFest until 2027,” festival organizers announced on their social media, citing ongoing global conflict, rising travel and transportation costs and challenging economic pressures among the reasons for the postponement.
During an elaborate news conference in October atop The Overlook at BLVD, where Jack the Clown from Universal Horror Unleashed gyrated with some zombie dancers and “Billy the Puppet” from “The Official Escape Room” pedaled around on a motorized tricycle, the initial plans were revealed for the horror “mega-cons,” which were supposed to be the first of five annual events spanning film, art, food, music, esports, immersive attractions and more, with some Strip attractions getting new life among all the undead.
“You are going to see a lot of very iconic activities and activations that have been famous on the Las Vegas Strip that may have been idle for decades,” noted Kelly Warnell, HallowScreamCon’s creator and founder, before elaborating on the overarching theme of the event.
“This is for anyone that likes music, film, TV, games, dance, comedy, illusion, stunts, makeup, beauty, fitness, sport,” she said. “I mean, literally, this show is for everyone. It was designed that way so that everyone can come here and find their tribe and become part of the community we all need to be a part of.”
HallowScreamCon and HallowScreamFest are now targeted for Sept. 30 through Oct. 4, 2027.
