Remember that Janet Mills is still on the ballot

Lead-ins to Press Herald columnists’ remarks seem pretty sexist these days. “Controversies aside,” Douglas Rooks says, “Graham Platner’s message threatens everything the ruling class has foisted…” Then there’s Steve Collins, “Unfortunately for Graham Platner, he needs women on his side to win….”

Reducing Graham Platner’s character flaws to “controversies” — the Nazi tattoo, his false depiction of himself as a “working class” guy (who is, in fact, supported by his parents and his military disability check) and now the trail (yes, six is a trail) of online sexual solicitation is destructive. We want U.S. senators with moral standards in the first place. The “unfortunate” fact that women have been given the right to vote? An artifact of history? Insulting and disturbing.

A sexist blind spot? Please try to address it. Women who like to vote can still vote for Janet Mills for U.S. Senate.
