An award-winning Italian restaurant that has served downtown Salt Lake City for almost 30 years is closing.
Cucina Toscana, at 282 S. 300 West, is closing Saturday after dinner service, according to a Facebook post.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support, loyalty and friendships we have shared over the past three decades,” the post said. “It has been our honor to be a part of your lives and to help celebrate so many of your special occasions, milestones and memories.”
“… The memories we’ve created together will stay with us forever,” the post continued.

For almost 10 years, Cucina Toscana customers were welcomed by larger-than-life restaurateur Valter Nassi, who left Cucina in 2012 to open Valter’s Osteria. Nassi died in 2022.
Salt Lake City has seen a flurry of closures in recent days. Cucina Toscana is joined in closing by another downtown stalwart, Market Street Grill & Oyster Bar. Sugar House beer bar Craft by Proper, Deadpan Sandwich and Yoko Ramen are all closing or have already closed. Mark of the Beastro will remain closed after shutting down in October.
