Divers recover body of missing Scarborough woman

SCARBOROUGH — Divers recovered the body of a woman who went missing Sunday afternoon while looking for golf balls in a pond.

A call reporting a missing woman near 9 Pond View Drive came in at 2:35 p.m., according to Scarborough Fire Chief Rich Kindelan.

Scarborough police and fire and rescue along with the Maine Warden Service responded to the scene across from Pleasant Hill Driving Range shortly after and began the search from the backyard of the property.

At the time of the call, the woman, whose name has not been released, had been missing for about 20 minutes. Her body was recovered just after 6 p.m.

Officials launched rescue boats and conducted a drone search before sending divers to locate the woman. Her body was located about 25 minutes after divers began their search.
