The media thought that our president’s approach toward Iran has been weak, inconsistent and politically shortsighted. Although this might be a negative critique, in my view, every decision made by our leader has been very delicate to balance between drawbacks and international relations.
We have to deal with that reality. Every decision to confront such regimes carries consequences, and every transition has bumps on the road as our government seeks an outcome.
One more thing: Our government has a different system of communication compared to Iran, so negotiating with abundantly clear terms to reach an agreement is more difficult. If the idea of peaceful intervention were defeated and we no longer find fertile ground because it went in the wrong direction, this would not lead to a brighter future. We need to remember that peace and diplomacy have been our guiding principles and the real foundation of our country.
