Firefighters extinguished a building fire at William P. Jarrett Middle School in Kaimuki this morning.
Honolulu Fire Department officials said they received a 911 call at 10:23 a.m. reporting a building fire reported at 1903 Palolo Ave. HFD sent 10 units and 37 personnel, with the first unit arriving at 10:30 a.m. to find smoke and flames coming from a room on the first floor of a two-story building on the campus.
Firefighters brought the fire under control by 10:42 a.m. and extinguished it by 10:51 a.m., according to an HFD news release.
No one was inside the building at the time for the fire.
HFD said a fire investigator was assigned to determine the origin and cause of the fire and to assess the damage.
