When America turned 250 years old on Saturday, we became the longest-lived constitutional republic in human history. The average length of any other government’s constitution is only about 17 years.
The reason for our nation’s long life is found in the Declaration of Independence, where God is acknowledged, God grants inalienable rights to all men, and governments exist to secure our inalienable rights given by God.
However, today, since the acknowledgments of and the references to God have been taken out of the public schools, our nation has never been as secular, troubled and divided.
Perhaps we can mandate the posting of the Ten Commandments on public classroom walls, just as Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas have done, so we can begin to restore the Declaration’s principles that established our country, and once again move toward unity and agreement.
