Job history
Entrepreneur, small business owner, media producer, community advocate, public meeting participant, and civic volunteer focused on government accountability, Native Hawaiian issues, and community engagement.
Please describe your qualifications to represent the Native Hawaiian community.
I have spent years advocating before state and county agencies, researching public policy, and engaging directly with communities across Hawaiʻi. My campaign emphasizes transparency, fiscal responsibility, mālama ʻāina, economic opportunity, and ensuring OHA fulfills its trust responsibilities for both current and future generations.
What is the most pressing issue facing Native Hawaiians, and how would you address it?
The high cost of living continues to push Native Hawaiians out of Hawaiʻi. OHA should prioritize affordable housing, economic opportunity, education, workforce development, and support for Native Hawaiian businesses while ensuring trust assets are managed responsibly to create long-term benefits for beneficiaries.
What role should OHA have in the U.S. military’s land lease negotiations in Hawaii?
OHA should advocate for meaningful consultation, cultural stewardship, environmental protection, public transparency, and fair outcomes for Native Hawaiian beneficiaries. Decisions involving ceded lands and culturally significant areas should balance national security, community interests, and long-term stewardship.
What more can OHA do to support Native Hawaiian business ownership and entrepreneurship?
Expand access to business grants, low-interest loans, technical assistance, mentorship, procurement opportunities, financial education, and workforce training. OHA should help Native Hawaiian entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses that create jobs and generational wealth.
Do you support or oppose the potential purchase by OHA of KITV or another major Hawaii media outlet? Please explain.
I support conducting thorough due diligence before making any decision. If an acquisition demonstrates sound financial performance, responsible governance, and long-term benefits for Native Hawaiian beneficiaries, it deserves serious consideration. Every major investment must be transparent, data-driven, and fiscally responsible.
What do you believe is the best use of OHA’s Kakaako Makai lands?
The lands should provide long-term benefits for Native Hawaiian beneficiaries while respecting cultural significance and public access. Any development should be financially sustainable, culturally appropriate, environmentally responsible, and aligned with OHA’s trust mission.
What role can OHA play in helping Native Hawaiians cope with Hawaii’s high cost of living?
OHA should invest in affordable housing initiatives, education, workforce development, financial literacy, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and programs that increase economic self-sufficiency while advocating for policies that help Native Hawaiian families remain in Hawaiʻi.
How much should the state be paying OHA annually for ceded lands, and how can the agency ensure it receives that amount?
The amount should be determined through a transparent, evidence-based process that reflects the law, the value of trust assets, and OHA’s fiduciary responsibilities. OHA should pursue accountability, independent analysis, and constructive negotiations to ensure beneficiaries receive what they are legally entitled to.
What will be your top priority if elected?
My top priority will be strengthening economic opportunity for Native Hawaiians by improving transparency, protecting trust assets, expanding housing and workforce opportunities, and ensuring OHA’s investments create measurable, long-term benefits for beneficiaries.
Is there anything more that you would like voters to know about you?
I believe leadership begins with listening. Throughout this campaign I have attended public meetings, submitted testimony, and engaged directly with communities across Hawaiʻi. If elected, I will remain accessible, transparent, and committed to serving with integrity, humility, and aloha for future generations.
