Milpa’s D.J. Flores opening Cobra Clutch bar in downtown Las Vegas

Chef D.J. Flores is building a hospitality empire.

Flores already owns Milpa, one of the city’s finest Mexican restaurants, in southwest Las Vegas, and Nocturno, the sleek cocktail convocation on South First Street in the Arts District. Flores and the bar were named James Beard Award semifinalists this year.

A second Milpa is on the way in Henderson, and Beautiful Stranger restaurant, another downtown project, is in the permitting process. Now, more details have emerged about Cobra Clutch, the bar Flores is launching with Lu Lopez, a leading Vegas mixologist and the bar director at Nocturno.

Las Vegas business license records list Cobra Clutch at 1201 S. Main St., cater-corner from Good Pie and just south of Ada’s and Esther’s Kitchen. Flores confirmed for Neon that the bar would be Japanese-inspired and would open in the next two weeks.

Cobra Clutch has already begun hiring, per @cobraclutch.lv on Instagram, and currently has a basic website at cobraclutchvegas.com.
