Graham Platner withdrew from a political race because of an alleged scandal. This reflects one set of circumstances. Donald Trump’s political career — despite numerous controversies and allegations over the years — reflects another set of circumstances; many voters continued to support him.
Reasonable people disagree about whether those different outcomes are justified, but it’s fair to observe that political consequences are often applied unevenly across candidates and parties.
