Pipeline Malasadas, the Hawaiian doughnut purveyor that has gained a following across Las Vegas since opening its inaugural shop in May 2025 in the southwest, is expanding. On Tuesday, Pipeline teased the launch of store No. 2 in an Instagram video that showed a handful of friends of the house receiving an advance taste at a pop-up soft opening of sorts.
Pipeline played coy on Instagram with the address of the new bakery, but Clark County building records list multiple permits issued for Pipeline Malasadas at 4485 W. Silverado Ranch Blvd, east of South Decatur Boulevard. A representative for the shop said that the new Pipeline planned to open to the public in August.
On the menu
Malasadas— fried golden, gently crisp, softly chewy, dusted with sugar and cinnamon — are an essential Hawaiian food, originating in Portugal (where they are spelled “malassadas”), then coming to Hawaii in the late 19th century when Portuguese laborers arrived to work on sugarcane plantations.
Pipeline offers the doughnuts classically dusted with white or cinnamon sugar or with cocoa, coffee or li hing mui (dried Chinese plum) sugar. The menu also runs to malasadas with custard or chocolate filling, malasadas with seasonal sugars or fillings, lilikoi (passion fruit) iced tea and a Pipeline blend of Hawaiian coffee.
Cultural connection
The bakery takes its name, in part, from the notoriously dangerous wave to surf, including the famed Pipeline surf break on the North Shore of Oahu. Besides summoning the big wave, the name refers to the cultural roots and business vision of owner Gayla Young, a native Hawaiian.
“This is more than just a doughnut,” Young told Neon when the original shop opened at 6945 S. Buffalo Drive, Suite 100. “It’s a taste of the islands, and we want to share that aloha and Hawaiian culture with everyone who walks through our doors.”
