Marshwood falls in consolation bracket at Cal Ripken 9U World Series

The Marshwood All-Stars baseball team was eliminated from the Cal Ripken 9U World Series with an 8-4 loss to Bonaire in the consolation bracket on Thursday in Florence, Alabama.

Marshwood finished 3-3 in the tournament, winning its first two games in pool play and its first game in bracket play. It fell into the consolation bracket with a 3-0 loss to Puerto Rico on Wednesday.

Bonaire scored four runs in the first and three more in the second to take control.

James Galuppo had an RBI single in the third to put Marshwood on the board. He added an RBI single in the top of the fifth when Marshwood scored three runs to pull within 8-4. Ryder Ward added an RBI single and Alexander Harrison walked with the bases loaded.

Marshwood beat Bonaire 2-1 in pool play on Tuesday.
