Conversations With a Killer: The Charles Manson Tapes — The fifth and final installment in the series includes newly unearthed phone conversations with the 20th-century icon whose promising early work with the Beach Boys is now overshadowed by his later and regrettable affiliation with Guns n’ Roses. Gosh, how I love these music documentaries. (Netflix)

Nando Between Two Worlds: A Sintonia Film — The first feature spun off from the Brazilian teen drama series Sintonia finds one of its main characters at a crossroads: Does he continue living the clean life in Serbia for the sake of his family or return to the underworld of his birthplace, with all the risks and thrills that entails? I don’t want to spoil anything, but there’s probably a reason this flick isn’t called Another Day With My Boring-Ass Family: A Sintonia Film. (Netflix)

Reacher — Jack is thrust into the thick of it once again at the outset of Season 4, when a Pentagon staffer kills herself in front of him on a New York City subway train. I’m sure the show’s fan base thinks that’s just a typical Tuesday on the MTA, but will they still watch now that Alan Ritchson has outed himself as Never Trump? You piss off those people and your career is over, says everybody who had nothing whatsoever to do with making The Odyssey. (Prime Video)

Women in Blue — In Season 2 of the 1970s cop drama, the murder of a student activist reopens some painful wounds for Mexico’s first female police force. Listen, they think they have it bad? This country went through Kent State, and all we got out of it was “Ohio.” (Apple TV)

A Child of My Own — Documentary footage and dramatic re-creations paint a complex portrait of Eleonor Alejandra Marín Mendoza, who scandalized Mexico by faking her pregnancy. And that just goes to show you how little it takes to send some people into an uproar: Before Gringos Locos closed, you could have found me on any given Saturday night and been convinced I was carrying to term. Call My Manager — The Philippines remakes the French sitcom Call My Agent, offering its own take on the concept of talent representatives bedeviled by the jams their celebrity clients get into. Doesn’t sound very hard, because in the Philippines, the biggest problem you’re going to have to deal with is Lea Salonga saying nice things about the Marcoses when she’s a few gin poms in. MLB Field of Dreams 2026 — A tradition that had lain dormant for four years resumes, with the Minnesota Twins facing the Philadelphia Phillies at the very same ballpark where Field of Dreams was filmed. Special coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. ET, with first pitch at 7:30. Or if you don’t want to waste the hour, you can watch Alan Ritchson perform a dramatic reading of the Epstein files on the same M train where The Warriors was filmed. (Netflix)

My Brilliant Career — Twenty-first-century hindsight lends a note of the bittersweet to this series adaptation of the classic Australian novel about a woman who has to pick between getting married and pursuing a career as a writer. So much for “it gets better”; nowadays, the choice is being a tradwife with or without a Substack. (Netflix)

Tires — Will and Shane have to press their noses squarely against the grindstone to save the shop from insolvency in Season 3 — which makes for an interesting contrast with the career of co-creator/co-star Shane Gillis, who just set a world record for doing stand-up in front of the largest audience in history. I guess the verdict is in: Getting fired by Lorne Michaels is even better for your career than taking a 20-year trip to Buc-ee’s for Lupita Nyong’o. (Netflix)

Don’t Say Good Luck — The latest Sandler family vanity project casts Sunny Sandler as a teen who lands a choice role in her school play just as her mother (Melanie Lynskey) is diagnosed with cancer. Boy, and you thought that Mama Rose was an attention grabber! (Netflix)

Hellcat — Disorientation reigns for a woman who wakes up injured in the back of a camper trailer, with the voice of the driver telling her she needs to get to a hospital within an hour if she wants to survive. Of course, this is only a nightmare scenario if you’ve never had to take an ambulance on a Florida Blue plan. (Shudder)

Moria — Argentine sex symbol Moria Casán favors us with her very own I’m Not There, casting three different actors to portray her at different stages of her journey down the corridors of cultural power. And if that seems like hyperbole to you, you must have forgotten how controversial it was when she flashed her cooch at the Newport Folk Festival. (Netflix)

My Best Friend, His Girlfriend and Me — A couple of Germans find their lifelong friendship tested when one of them lands a girlfriend who can’t stand the other. The website butwhytho.net called the film’s approach to comedy mean and its characters thoroughly unlikeable, saying “There’s no point in a big ugly feud if you don’t like either party.” Suddenly, I’m thinking all those Jill Stein voters might have had a point. Umthetho — A lawyer has to go undercover to infiltrate a prison gang in this South African remake of the Brazilian series Brotherhood. Geez, all of these countries having to riff on each other’s crime dramas makes me think the world is a lot safer place than I had assumed. (Netflix)

Streaming Tuesday, Aug. 18:

Kelsey Cook: Happy Hour — From the stage of the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota, comic Cook addresses such subjects as the pros and cons of dating a literal chad — in this case, her fiancé and podcast co-host, Chad Daniels. In a plot twist only a German could love, Daniels happens to absolutely despise her best friend, one Shane Gillis. (Netflix)

Take a Hike! — A bunch of Korean celebrities get more than they bargained for when they agree to climb some of the country’s most imposing snowy mountains. And just think, they’d still rather do this than compete for a Grammy. (Netflix)
