Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines have canceled dozens of flights to and from Big Island and other neighbor island destinations as Tropical Storm Lala approaches the state.
The airlines said they had canceled five flights to and from Hilo on Friday and suspended all Hilo service Saturday, resulting in 25 canceled flights.
At Kona International Airport, all neighbor island flights scheduled after 2 p.m. Saturday through the evening have been canceled. Five transpacific flights to and from Kona also have been canceled.
Service to and from Kahului Airport on Maui has been reduced Saturday, including both transpacific and neighbor island flights. Four neighbor island flights to and from Lihue Airport on Kauai have also been canceled.
In all, five neighbor island flights were canceled Friday, while 54 neighbor island flights and 11 transpacific flights are scheduled to be canceled Saturday.
The airlines said they are continuing to monitor weather conditions for additional impacts to Hawaii flights this weekend. Passengers are advised to check their flight status before going to the airport.

Passengers whose flights have been canceled are being accommodated on later flights, according to the airlines.
Alaska and Hawaiian also have issued a travel waiver allowing passengers with flights scheduled Friday through Sunday to change or cancel their itineraries.
