Sen. Susan Collins is divisive and dishonest, not a straight-shooting moderate as she tries to portray herself. An Aug. 8 fundraising email tells the true story.
First, she falsely claims that Chuck Schumer “handpicked Troy Jackson to run for Maine’s Senate seat.” This is not true! Schumer stayed out of the process, when the state Democratic Party demanded he do so.
Second, the way she harps on the so-called “Extreme Left” is destructive and deeply unfair. She says, “The Extreme Left wants someone who will always do what they want, and they found him in Troy Jackson. He’ll blindly vote for their extreme agenda, raise taxes and blow up our economy.” This too is just false. Troy Jackson is his own person and makes his own decisions. He supports standing up for workers, cutting taxes for small businesses and working families, protecting Social Security and Medicare and opposing forever wars.
And by the way, I am a patriotic, mainstream Democrat, and that doesn’t make me part of the “Extreme Left.” I want my senator to not be in the pocket of billionaires (79 have contributed to her campaign and Elon Musk just pledged more millions for her), to really support working people, fight for democracy, listen to constituents, oppose this latest war, vote against unqualified nominees, support healthcare for all and to fight corruption in Washington, D.C.
These are mainstream, sensible ideas that are good for people. It’s time for Troy.
