Barry Manilow is finished singing until the fall.
The “Weekend in New England” hitmaker is undergoing vocal rest through Oct. 8, when he is due to return to the Westgate.
Manilow has called off his next nine performances at International Theater. His three shows this weekend, Sept. 17-19 and Sept. 24-26 are being rescheduled.
In a statement to fans Tuesday afternoon, Manilow said:
”I want you to be the first to know that we’re going to take a quick break. We just finished a fantastic summer tour, 29 shows in 68 days. The shows were fantastic. The audiences were fantastic. And I sounded fantastic. But it seems that we were pushing a little too hard. Now we all need to sit down and shut up. So, we’re going to take a break until we return to the Westgate Las Vegas on October 8th. When I’ll be singing like a bird. I hope to see you then.”
The 83-year-old entertainment legend cut short Thursday’s show and canceled Friday and Saturday, announcing, “Due to technical and vocal problems, we’re unable to put on our show.”
In December, Manilow underwent a surgery to remove half of his left lung after doctors detected a cancerous spot. He returned to the stage in April, for dates in the U.K., and was back at Westgate on July 9.
