Justin Gonzales got two of his four hits during a seven-run sixth inning, and Johanfran Garcia hit three-run homers in the eighth and ninth as the Portland Sea Dogs extended their winning streak to four games with a 14-3 victory Saturday against the Richmond Flying Squirrels in Virginia.
The Sea Dogs trailed 1-0 until the sixth, when doubles by Gonzales, Ronald Rosario and Henry Godbout gave Portland a 2-1 lead. Three more runs scored on a wild pitch and two bases-loaded walks, and Gonzales drove in two with a single.
Gonzales, the No. 2 prospect for the Boston Red Sox, is 15 for 34 with a 1.260 OPS since the 19-year-old outfielder was promoted to Double-A.
Garcia made it 10-2 with a home run in the eighth, then connected again in the ninth for his 16th home run of the season.
Morgan McSweeney earned his first win for the Sea Dogs, allowing one run on three hits in five innings. He struck out eight and walked one.
