Brewer-owner Vasilios Gletsos of Wunderkammer Biermanufaktur has launched a seasonal weekend beer garden in his Craftsbury Common backyard at 7628 Route 14. Weather permitting, Gletsos will offer draft pours of his mixed-culture beers alongside some of his newer “regular beers” almost every Friday and Saturday evening through October 3. The beer garden will be closed September 25 to 26 due to beer-festival travel plans.
“I want people to be able to come together here over beer,” the brewer said.
Gletsos, 48, started brewing Wunderkammer beers in 2016 as a side project while working at Hill Farmstead Brewery in Greensboro Bend. He officially established his microbrewery in Albany in 2021 and has built a cult following for his use of foraged and locally cultivated ingredients and mixed cultures. The brewer described his approach as producing “dry, tart and eccentric beers that incorporate landscape and slow production methods.”
Wunderkammer beers are distributed throughout northern Vermont and now include some more classic styles, such as one Gletsos described as a “British-inflected session pale ale.”
Gletsos encourages visitors to bring food to enjoy with his beer in his scenic backyard. He highlighted the Genny, one of Craftsbury’s two general stores, as offering great takeout fare nearby. He will also fill growlers and sell bottled beer to go. Current hours of 4 to 8 p.m. may change; follow Wunderkammer on Instagram for weekly updates.
