What does the new round of Canadian tariffs mean to Maine? It means that Sen. Susan Collins will be defeated in the November elections.
Clearly, the new tariffs are detrimental to everyone in our state, and only add to the anger of the state’s electorate against President Trump. Even Sen. Collins must recognize this. She has expressed her concern over the matter. She also seemed to know not be seen with Vice President Vance when he visited Maine last month. Collins’ political advertisements have also stopped bragging about voting with Trump. Those are smart moves on her part.
But they won’t be enough. The slime of Trump’s actions is splashing on Collins even more now, with these new tariffs, and I don’t think the senator will be able to wipe it away in time for the election. It reminds me of the old TV shows where green slime was dumped on the heads of some contestants. Sen. Collins got slimed by Trump.
